Melinda is a seasoned technology marketing executive with a track-record of scaling revenue for B2B companies and building leadership positions in emerging categories. With 25 years of experience as CMO and operational marketing executive, Melinda has particular expertise in growth strategies that build substantial market valuation for then-disruptive technology categories including virtualization, NoSQL databases, web services, cloud automation and supply chain.
Her background includes executive roles at early-stage startups as well as multi-billion dollar technology companies including VMware, where she was responsible for breakout growth of the company’s line of virtualization management and cloud automation solutions; Couchbase, (NoSQL database) where, as founding VP of marketing, she launched the company and products, igniting revenue growth that increased company valuation by 10x from Series A to Series C; and SaaS companies CloudPhysics (Big Data analytics) and Platform9 (cloud infrastructure orchestration for OpenStack and Kubernetes-based clouds).
Early in her career, Melinda championed the development of Informix’s first corporate brand platform, successfully positioning Informix as a top-tier database company, and catapulting Informix from an also-ran to a leadership position alongside Oracle and Sybase.
Melinda holds an MBA from Santa Clara University, with concentrations in marketing and international management, and a BA in journalism – which explains why she loves a good story. She enjoys living in the heart of the Silicon Valley, and loves spending time with her family, classic literature, urban hikes, travel, and trying to make her garden grow.Next Bio »
